Tillandsia bulbosa is a unique species due to its bulbous shape. It has a wide distribution in the wild, from Mexico through central and South America.
Interestingly it has a symbiotic relationship with ants which can live in their bulbous bases, in return the ants fertilise the plant. This species is easy to grow and eventually makes a nice clump.  It is tolerant higher humidity and less air movement, making it suitable for bathrooms and terrariums.
Display the plant near a window and to water it my preference is to submerge it in a bowl of water for 20-30 minutes. In winter about every 2 weeks. Spring/summer-weekly. Rainwater is best at room temperature or pond water. You could use bottled spring water. Avoid distilled or filtered water. Then give it a gentle shake to remove any excess as they dislike overwatering and hang up to dry. Alternatively you could spray the air plant thoroughly until water drips from the leaves.
